Day 5: 100 press-ups a day in September (for Cancer Research)
I’m not sure where I first saw this challenge on my social media. But the algorithms kept pushing it at me.
And I thought, “It’s a great cause and I could do that.”
So, I signed up.
It’s Day 5 of my challenge as I write this (AI free!) after completing my 100 press-ups for today.
100 Press-ups a day – Steep Learning Curve
And crikey have I been on a steep learning curve already!
👉 Until 1 September I had never completed 100 press-ups in a single day
👉 I had to master the Giving Page and upload my story
👉I posted some personal images to share on social media (business posts are ok but not generally personal stuff)
👉 I’ve delivered a few webinars but never recorded and shared a very personal video
👉 Close family members have been directly affected by cancer, but I realised so many more family and friends have been affected too
👉 People are so generous to donate to what such a relatively small challenge compared to what others are going through
👉 While a small gesture, I actually now realise that these can add up to big gestures to affect positive change
👉 Big charities have the reach to engage with and motivate me for a challenge like this but there are also so many smaller charities making a real difference in their own way – often under the radar
It’s different from this angle
I’m a former trustee who gave up my time to help a cause I believed in. And I now work with charities on finance and governance issues.
But this is different
This is different to my other roles.
I now see charities from a new angle and can reflect on the difference they can make.
And I can see that the world needs effective charities more than ever.
Small, large, local, national, international. They all have a role to play.
Only 25 more days to go…..
