A qualified accountant for over 35 years, I’m a Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. As a business consultant and former board member, I understand that many boards struggle to become really effective in achieving their organisation’s objectives. In fact many boards don’t know where to start.
That’s where I specialise in helping board members to identify the key characteristics of an effective board and then benchmarking the organisation against these standards and best practice. This structured approach ensures the board can identify where it is operating effectively and where it isn’t – particularly incorporating the key aspects of good finances and strong corporate governance.
My working career was in banking, mostly in senior corporate lending roles working with small businesses and not-for-profit organisations. In over 35 years I analysed thousands of business lending applications across every main sector and developed a detailed understanding of business models and business funding.
In 2004 I began my entrepreneurial business journey began when I set up Admor Business Solutions. Initially part-time while I juggled it with my banking career, in 2009 I followed my dream full-time.
And despite a few ups and downs that are part of the adventure, I’ve never looked back.
My interest in the not-for-profit sector started when I joined a charity board in 2011. I was appointed Chair of the Finance sub-committee and developed a really keen interest in corporate governance.
During my 8 years as a charity trustee:
Tony Haren
I provide you and your board with a practical and structured approach to developing and improving your finances and/or your corporate governance.
As a result of my very broad business and charity experience I also provide other practical consultancy services when you just need a problem identified and actioned, quickly.
I work right across the UK and Ireland both in-person and remotely and the initial one hour consultation is totally free.
I often get asked where my business name comes from. And I tell them that “Admor" is derived from old Irish “Ádh Mór", meaning “good luck” and reflects my inherent ability to “add more value” to every organisation that I work with.
I've always been able to quickly analyse complex challenges or problems and focus on developing practical yet effective solutions that I can then communicate in a simple and clear way to my clients for fast results.
Since then Admor has developed into a business that specialises in the areas that I know best – improving charity governance and business finances.
